Spring - Recipes - GOOGLE - Special Education - Life Skills - Cooking - Reading
The weather is getting warmer and flowers are beginning to bloom. That can only mean one thing - spring is here! Food is an excellent way to motivate students to work on practical real world reading and writing skills. The recipes included in this lesson are student-friendly and serve as great opportunities to promote collaborative learning in the classroom.
This activity is specifically formatted to be used with Google Drive and is compatible with Google Classroom. Google Drive is an amazing resource that many educators are now using as an interface to support 1:1 digital instruction in the classroom. I pair it up with Google Classroom (a free website) that allows me to digitally send each student in my class a copy of the worksheets that they later submit to me for grading. With this lesson, students are able to type directly into the yellow boxes. It is an amazing paper-free process and the kids LOVE working on these worksheets on the computer.
In this DIGITAL unit, students will answer comprehension questions for FIVE spring themed recipes! These recipes are all presented in a similar format, have easy to understand vocabulary, and have always been a huge hit for my kids year after year.
Recipe comprehension is a fantastic real world skill for students to master. Have them begging for more practice with this download!
