RECENTLY UPDATED FOR THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

With the 2020 Election Day fast approaching, students will be surrounded by presidential election coverage everywhere they go. Although this purchase was created specifically with special education students in mind, it is a great starting point for an introduction to elections for ANY classroom!

This unit provides students with an DIGITAL opportunity to research presidential candidates. Students use the internet to learn more about where the candidates stand on important issues like healthcare, taxes, immigration, foreign policy and more!

Please note: This unit has been used in special education classrooms with much success. If you feel like you need a more detailed lesson plan for your students, this may not be the best fit. This lesson was intended to introduce students with limited reading and writing skills to the basic concepts of elections in a meaningful manner

Purchase Includes:

  • Google slide where students paste the picture and name of each candidate
  • Google slide where students paste the party logo for each of the 2 major parties
  • Google slide where students are asked to research the place of birth for each candidate
  • Google slide where students are asked to research the date of birth of each candidate
  • Google slide where students research the vice president for each candidate
  • Six Google slides where students research key parts of each candidate's policies (taxes, immigration, foreign policy, gun rights, healthcare, and environmental policy)
  • Google slide where students are asked to list interesting facts for each candidate
  • Google slide where students are asked to drag and sort each view point into the correct category (Biden or Trump). This is the same activity from UNIT TWO of my elections unit where students are asked to cut and paste into the correct box, but now it is DIGITAL
