Life Skills - Time - Elapsed Time - Task Cards - Special Education - Unit 6

Elapsed time is always one of those concepts that is quite difficult for students to master. Building off of core concepts reviewed in UNIT FOUR of my lesson, students can now practice their elapsed time skills using these fun task cards!

I have designed these task cards for a variety of learners. The best part is that I have done the hard work already for you! I am including THREE SEPARATE LEVELS of task cards with elapsed time content already differentiated. Level A focuses on lower level learners still mastering elapsed time by the hour. Level B helps students transition to calculating elapsed time to the nearest half hour. Finally, Level C promotes mastery understanding by assessing students on their ability to calculate elapsed time to the nearest fifteen minutes. Each task card is also visually modified to support mathematical reasoning by including clocks with correct times already on each problem. By scaffolding students' success, you can rest assured that they will become masters at telling time and calculating elapsed time sooner than you could even imagine!

How I Use This In My Classroom:

I print out and laminate each of the task cards to ensure long term usage. I do a quick pre-assessment with each of my students to figure out if they are at Level A, B, or C. Then I group them accordingly and have them complete these in centers. Many of my students are independent at this task, but for those who need extra support, a staff member works with them using a whiteboard to help calculate elapsed time. Students move up each level and once they hit Level C, they have graduated from my elapsed time RTI program!
