Life Skills - Reading - Math - Apartment Budget - Shopping - Distance Learning
This is PART TWO of my unit on Real World Budgeting on life after school is over. Moving out is one of the major goals all of my students have in class, and I'm sure yours are no different.
With this product, students will get a chance to actually realize how quickly costs add up when furnishing their first place. Students will be presented with actual real world images for things like sofas, pillows, sheets, and much more and then will be asked to pick which one they like the most. Each item comes with other similar products that vary in prices. Students will circle their favorite and then total their budget up after they are done.
This activity is specifically formatted to be used with Google Drive and is compatible with Google Classroom. Google Drive is an amazing resource that many educators are now using as an interface to support 1:1 digital instruction in the classroom. I pair it up with Google Classroom (a free website) that allows me to digitally send each student in my class a copy of the worksheets that they later submit to me for grading. It is an amazing paper-free process and the kids LOVE working on these worksheets on the computer.
This is a very popular unit because it brings the real world into your classroom. The buy-in is HUGE :)
