Learning the various names and uses for common household tools is a crucial life skill for kids to master. Although many students might see these tools laying around at home, you'd be surprised to see how many are unaware what purpose they serve!

Bring real world learning into your classroom with this download! Students are given a chance to look at actual pictures and functional definitions for tools in a manner that is relevant to them.

As an extension activity, I often have students bring in a small tool to present in class as well and then have them share how to use it. We make an active word wall with these vocabulary words and then add to it as we learn new words!

Kids LOVE this and have a blast! Don't forget to integrate this into your IEP goals as well to address independent living or adaptive/self help goals:

"By mm/dd/yyyy, Student ______ will increase his/her independent living skills by identifying the name and purpose of common household tool from correctly identifying them with __% accuracy to correctly identifying them with __% accuracy, as measured by classroom based assessments"

Purchase Includes:

- 22 clear images of ACTUAL household tools with a short description of when to use them

- 22 pages where students are given a specific real-world prompt (Ex: You need to hang picture frames STRAIGHT, what should you use?) and students are asked to circle the correct tool.
