Life Skills Math, Money, and Reading: Calculating Discounts and Sale Prices

Looking for functional math life skills to teach your students? Learning how to calculate discounts or sale prices is an important life skill our students must learn to master.

Geared specifically toward higher life skills / resource room / transition special education students, this lesson scaffolds students step by step on the correct steps needed to calculate sale prices / discounts. What is great about this packet is that it is differentiated to support higher level learners and those who are just starting to learn to concept of calculating sale prices. I usually start all my students out with the scaffolded worksheets and then move my students onto the smaller visuals (without steps) to see if they can replicate the steps on their own. By breaking down the process into four very easy steps, students can gain the successes needed to calculate sale prices on their own!
