Time is one of those real world concepts that many students struggle with. Since telling time involves many, many smaller skills (counting, sequencing, distinguishing hour hand from minute hand, knowing when to use the numbers for hours vs minutes, etc.), kids especially in special education have a hard time keeping up.

This activity is specifically formatted to be used with Google Drive and is compatible with Google Classroom. Google Drive is an amazing resource that many educators are now using as an interface to support 1:1 digital instruction in the classroom. I pair it up with Google Classroom (a free website) that allows me to digitally send each student in my class a copy of the worksheets that they later submit to me for grading. With this lesson, students are able to drag and drop a red box onto their correct locations. It is an amazing paper-free process and the kids LOVE working on these worksheets on the computer.

Two levels are provided within this activity. The first level has students practice telling time to the nearest hour. The second level focuses on students practicing telling time to the nearest half hour. This lesson expands students' understanding of basic time skills by scaffolding the content in a way that is easy to understand and follow along with. Both multiple choice and drag/drop features are included within this lesson. Students will enjoy it because it is relevant, age-appropriate material. You'll love it because it is a great NO PREP activity!

The lessons in this series of time lesson plans all scaffold a wide range of skills and can be used to differentiate for all levels of students in the classroom!
