Life Skills - Calculate the Total Cost - GOOGLE - Math - Money - Menu - Unit One

Many special education students struggle calculating totals to multiple items when going shopping. They either have difficulty entering the numbers correctly on a calculator, lack number sense to know when a number is too high / low, or simply do not have the attention to detail needed when transcribing numbers. Because of this, so many students have trouble arriving at a correct total when purchasing items in a store. Help them develop this crucial life skill with this real world oriented download. With this activity, students will have an opportunity to find the total to various MEXICAN RESTAURANT menu items. Two levels are provided. The first level has students calculate the total of two items together. The second level has students calculate the total of three items. Students will also enjoy it because it is relevant, age-appropriate material. You'll love it because it is a great NO PREP activity! 

This activity is specifically formatted to be used with Google Drive and is compatible with Google Classroom. Google Drive is an amazing resource that many educators are now using as an interface to support 1:1 digital instruction in the classroom. I pair it up with Google Classroom (a free website) that allows me to digitally send each student in my class a copy of the worksheets that they later submit to me for grading. With this lesson, students are able to drag and drop images into their correct locations. It is an amazing paper-free process and the kids LOVE working on these worksheets on the computer.
