Coronavirus - Covid19 - GOOGLE - Distance Learning - Special Education - Reading

Coronavirus has turned people's worlds upside down! Many school districts have moved to the distance learning model, leaving students and teachers both navigating new territories that have never been explored before.

I designed this packet to help bring some kid-friendly language around this coronavirus pandemic so both teachers and students can approach it in a developmentally appropriate way.

This activity is specifically formatted to be used with Google Drive and is compatible with Google Classroom. Google Drive is an amazing resource that many educators are now using as an interface to support 1:1 digital instruction in the classroom. I pair it up with Google Classroom (a free website) that allows me to digitally send each student in my class a copy of the worksheets that they later submit to me for grading. It is an amazing paper-free process and the kids LOVE working on these worksheets on the computer.

In this specific online activity, students are given an opportunity to learn about coronavirus in a non-threatening manner. They are exposed to important vocabulary like "flattening the curve" and "social distancing." Although this lesson was initially designed for special education students, ANY teacher looking to give students a voice during this crisis would benefit from this fun digital activity!
